HOW TO REMOVE THE BLACK BACKGROUND

JPEG Overlays sometimes have a Black Background, unlike most .png files, which have a transparent background.

  • You will need to use your Blending Modes in photoshop for the JPEG Overlays to work.
  • Blending Modes are fantastic tools that change the way the layer interacts with the layers below it.
  • If you are struggling with using my JPEG Overlays, like the sun flares or glitter, and can't work out how to get rid of the black background, there is a very simple solution!  Yay!
  • The blending mode needs to be changed to SCREEN! Voila!  All the black disappears!
  • You can transform your overlay now, to fit and suit your image.

PDF Download Won't Work

Sometimes your PDF link doesn't work, or you will have some difficulty with accessing your Etsy download. There can be a few reasons why this has happened.
🌼 PLEASE CHECK YOUR COMPUTER FIREWALL SETTINGS. 🌼 These may be preventing access to your download. ✩ Windows. Click on the "Windows Firewall" link in the All Control Panel Items window. Click on the "Turn Windows Firewall On or Off" link in the left sidebar. Uncheck the box next to "Block All Incoming Connections, Including Those in the List of Allowed Apps" under Private Network Settings and Public Network Settings ✩ Mac Select "Security & Privacy" from the "System Preferences" window. Select the "General" tab, and select the lock in the lower left corner to allow changes. Enter your computer username and password, then select "Unlock." In the "Allow apps downloaded from:" section, select the radio button to the left of "Anywhere."

🌼 PLEASE ENSURE YOU HAVE ADOBE READER INSTALLED. 🌼
This is a free software download for windows or mac and you will need it to open your PDF and access the hyperlinks, which are embedded into the file.
Find Adobe Reader HERE.

How to download files to Apple i phone.

Usually it is a very simple action to download a Preset file to your android phone.
But sometimes it's a bit trickier with an i phone.  You will need to install an app which allows you to download any files you want!

To download your files you will need to go to i save it. It is a free ios application and you will need to add the app to your device.

Here is a great youtube tutorial on how to use it!

HOW TO UNZIP FILES ON IPAD AND IPHONE

1. Download the app izip free from the app store.

2.  Open the preset zip file.

3. Within the file is a pdf which contains the links to all your files.  There are usually 5 or 6 included in a set.  You will need to download each one.

3.  Click on the preset you would like to download.

4.  Click "more" and choose to open in izip

6.  Select " Open in "

7.  Select Lightroom.

8.  In light room, click the three dots at the top of the screen.

9.  Select " Create Preset. "

10.  Name your preset.  You are now ready to add your presets to your images!

How to Download Mobile Presets from Etsy and load them into Mobile Lightroom App.

HOW TO DOWNLOAD THE FILES.

You need to open etsy.com directly on your mobile phone via any internet browser (like Safari, Crome or similar). Do not use the Etsy app. It does not support direct digital downloads for mobile phones.

From there you will need to download the pdf file, included in your downloads.

Find it here...

Once the pdf file has been downloaded it will look like this.

You will need to click on each seperate link, included in your file. Usually there are either 5 or 6 .dng presets per set.

Your PDF file has hyperlinks embedded into it.
When you tap on each seperate URL link, ( in PINK ) each preset link will download onto your phone.  Your screen will show you this...

Click on the download button at the bottom. Do this for each seperate preset.

Your .dng image file will download and will usually be added to your device gallery.  Just be aware of where your device stores your downloads, because it may be stored elsewhere on your phone.

HOW TO INSTALL PRESETS INTO LIGHTROOM MOBILE.

You will need to have the Lightroom app installed on your mobile phone. It is a free to use editing app and can be downloaded via mobile app and apple store.

Using the Lightroom app, open and load the files you have downloaded into the app.

Scroll across the bottom of the app till you find PRESETS.
Tap on it and then Tap again on Create Preset.

Alternately, tap on the three small dots at the top right corner of your screen.
A drop down menu will appear.  Tap on Create Preset.

Name your preset. ( You may wish to add it to a group so you can find all of them in the one spot. )
Then SAVE the preset.

You are now ready to add the filter to your own images!

Go to your gallery and select your images that you wish to add the preset to.

Scroll across till you find your presets and choose the new preset!

You will need to adjust the exposure and contrast. This is to be expected when you buy pre made presets. They will not always work perfectly right away.  A small adjustment to these sliders is all that is needed to make the preset work for your image.

And the preset has been added.  You can now save or share your image!

Have heaps of fun editing your images!

How To Upload Large Digital Files To Etsy

Etsy is a great place to sell your products.  It's where I have most of my sales with digital stock.
BUT they only have a 20MB file size per upload, and you can only do 5 folders for each.
This equals 100MB.  Now, that's IF you can squeeze all your files into that small folder without any wasted space...  For me, 2 Textures equals 17.2MB.  And I can't fit any more in, because the extra 2.8 MB is too small!  I don't make textures in such low resolution and in the end I am wasting nearly 20MB of file space simply because I need to make it fit for 5 seperate folders.  Crazy stuff!
Especially when all the other sites that have and allow the sale of digital stock, let you upload files that can be up to 1GB!
So, this is the work around that I have been using, successfully, for over 2 years.
Firstly, you will need to sign up and pay for off site file storage.
Most of these sites offer a small amount of MB space for free.  Which is great for a trial, but not if you are using it continually sell a digital product.  I like to know my files are secure and reliable when selling.  A smooth transaction leaves customers feeling they can buy easily and comfortably from my store.  A problem with the download equals a lot of back peddling and fixing the issue, which can take a while.  Especially if you are in a different country and fast asleep when it happened.  Digital file customers do not usually want to wait for you to wake up, chat to them and send them their files 10 hours after the purchase.  In an instant world, fast reliable and quick downloads is what we all want.  Doing it this way means you are still offering a very efficient service and a fab product too.
Personally I use MEDIAFIRE and SYNC. Both do the job, are reliable and have an excellent reputation.  There are so many different on line storage places, I wouldn't know where to start!  Adobe Cloud, Drop Box etc...  Just google and search!  I use two seperate sites because if one fails to give the download, the other usually does.  AND you can also use them to back up your personal and commercial files in the cloud and know they are safe.  It's also perfect for sharing your work, especially when you are a photographer and sell digital files to your customers.  No running around and transferring big files to 4 usb's when you have completed a wedding!  Sync is very good for privacy too.  Both cost $ to keep, BUT you can claim that on tax at the end of financial year, so it's not problem.
Having two off site file storage places means I can offer my customer one of both Links.
I offer both links to my customers with a PDF file which also has download instructions and a personal message.  95% of the time, I don't have any issues at all with my customers getting the files.
Some of my files are over 400MB, but the size is never an issue, because their stored somewhere else and the customers are downloading from my cloud storage, not Etsy.
The pdf file has all the details the customers need for all their purchased files and is only around 30kb, tiny and easy. I use text editor on my mac to create the pdf.  Below is an example of how I set out my PDF.

If you find it's too hard to create a pdf on your own computer, or you don't have a pdf text editor on your home computer, just use pdf escape, a free online PDF creator.  I love this site, and the best thing about it, is, ITS FREE!  You can also add a direct url link embedded into the pdf.  https://www.pdfescape.com/?noredirect=true
This was the fabulous tutorial that taught me how to add a hyper link to my pdf.  Customers just click on the highlighted box and voila, the download starts immediately!   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8r1WejMMsU
The off site storage is safe and reliable.  Occasionally, the link doesn't work. Sometimes it's not because of the link, per se, but because there is an internet browser fault or the download line is not clear.  When this happens my customers always send me a message, usually in a panic!   And when that happens, I reply with a reassuring message, and a sorry and then I just give them the link again.  It works 99% of the time.  When it doesn't, I will upload the zip file and send again via google drive.  That works and usually resolves any issues.
It is completely understandable that you want to provide customers with high res, 300dpi, files. It's the only way that you can print quality images.  I do too, hence the work around.
Hopefully this work around helps you with offering quality files that will get you those elusive 5 stars!

Glass Dome Digital Overlays for Photoshop

A customer asked me if there was a chance that I could make some glass domes as overlays. She wanted them for a beauty and the beast theme. It was tricky to find the right sort of dome to buy, but I think the worked out well.
I created a clear and a tinted dome overlays set. You can see more details in the below links.

These domes work best with an image with a transparent background. Like a clipart .png file.

This set can be found HERE...

This set is clearer, and instead of snow flurries, it comes with fairy glows!

More Digital Snow Globes

Yep, I have made quite a few of these Overlays sets! LOL!

These ones were created around Easter time. I found snow globes for easter! So adorable! I love the shape of these ones.

Adding to my snow globe collection all the time! I think I have a little bit of an addiction!
